Standard plastic water bottles have always had the issue of keeping beverages cooler on hot summer days and not freezing
on cold winter days until Polar came along and invented the very first insulated water bottle. A Polar bottle

We Researched Polar Bottle Carefully, So You Don't Have To
Here at the Heart Rate Watch Company we did a lot of hydration research prior to deciding which water bottle to
carry. We checked them all out and decided that for the Rockford/Heart Rate Watch Company bike team we would use the 24
ounce insulated water bottle. 
In tests we ran in the Spring of 2011, cycling in temperatures as low as 25 degrees, a Polar bottle kept our
beverages from ever freezing - even on a 3 hour ride. One day, when it was below 30 degrees, I rode with one insulated bottle
and one of my old plastic bottles. These bottles kept the beverage close to tap water temperature the entire ride
while the regular plastic bottle got very cold and nearly froze.
We did the converse test in the summer of 2010 on a 90 degree day. We refrigerated water until it was at a temperature of
40 degrees then we put half in a insulated bottle and half in a standard water bottle and went for a ride. Within one hour
the regular water bottle was warm but the Polar water bottles kept the beverage cooler for well over two hours.
Polar began the whole insulated sport bottle industry back in 1994 by inventing the very first insulated water bottle. Since that
time many copycats have come along but none that measure up to the Polar bottle.
Different Water Bottles For Varied Uses
The company also offers a variety of insulated, stainless steel and plastic bottles that are great for a variety of outdoor activities
from cycling to hiking. Some of the features we really like are the half turn unlocks on the hiking bottles, which make it really
quick and easy to get a sip and then a half-turn to lock back to a leak-proof status.

If there was one downside to the insulated bottle, it is solely cosmetic, in that the foil liner between the two bottle
layers that acts as an insulator usually has little kinks in it, which is to be expected, but it is there for the purpose of
creating a colder beverage - so its forgivable because it works so well.
Hydration Features That Make A Difference
Polar bottles also contain several features that we really liked. The double insulated walls with medium squeeze means water
comes out evenly and not in a flood. The BPA and Phthalate-free status of the bottles means that they are safe and won't pass any
unintended bad stuff along to you. The bottle designs are bike friendly, but also have a removable loop that can be used for
hiking. They also have a removable valve for easy cleaning.
