The Mio heart rate monitor has proven to be one of the only reliable strapless heart rate monitors on the market today. We have tried and
tested many different versions along the way and eliminated two brands over the past year that most other websites still carry. We eliminated them
because they did not prove functional and reliable and we want to make sure when you come to our website that you don't have to think twice about
the product selection.
THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT STRAPLESS
No matter what the pundits say, strapless heart rate monitors are strictly for periodic heart rate. You only receive a heart rate when your
fingers are pressing the sensors. They give you indications of where you are at but they are not for zone training because that requires that
you have a continuous heart rate and the only way to get that is with a strap.
RUSTY'S TEST
I actually used a Mio heart rate monitor on a four day wilderness back pack trip two summers ago. I just used it periodically throughout
the day to check my heart rate and it was great for that. Periodically at the top of hills, since I had the "65 pound Dad pack", I'd stop to check
my heart rate. The watch was reliable and, when we checked it against a strapped unit, it was pretty accurate.
These days we strictly stick with Mio heart rate monitor products for our customers who need heart rate monitors but can't wear a strap. Of course,
these days the straps on most monitors are so comfortable that they really are not that difficult to wear.
