Magellan Switch GPS Watches
Magellan was one of the very first leaders in GPS technology dating back to the 1980's, so it is very exciting to see them getting into the GPS fitness
industry because they have very good GPS technology. For year's Magellan has been a respected leader in GPS equipment for mapping and now that same reliability comes
to their fitness GPS watches.
"We are super picky about which products we carry and we don't add new products very easily to our store unless we know they are reliable and that we have seen this in our
own testing", says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. "Magellan has a good reputation for quality and it is the type of product we like to carry - brand name,
reliable and well built".
Magellan has two watch versions: 1.) The Switch, which is a fully functional GPS watch for multi-sport much like the Garmin 910XT but at a price point that is about $150 less
including a heart rate monitor strap. 2.) The Switch Up, which is a very similar watch in function but with a quick transition multi-sport mounting system, for athletes that want
one device to tame all their sports with.
This is pretty exciting because the Magellan is another great option for multi-sport athletes but at a more affordable price point.
Several of the Magellan fitness team came from a background at Garmin which is also giving us a "warm, fuzzy feeling" because they have had good exposure to the market and the technology.
"What defines our company is the product we choose not to carry because our customers know that if they come to us it is reliable and we have ultra-marathoner and adventure athlete John Yarington test everything we sell", says Squire. He adds, "If it is DNA man approved then you know it is road tested by the real deal and not just some poser who is pretending to be a blogging fitness expert."
