The new Garmin FR70 heart rate monitor is on the way and it contains some significant improvements over its predecessor the Garmin FR60. Unlike other
Garmin watches the FR70 is not a GPS watch but rather uses sensory devices to get speed and distance running or cycling.
The big improvements include a much more durable strap. The FR60 had some issues with strap breakage and those issues have been corrected in the FR70.
The new more attractive form factor reminds us a lot of the Suunto M Series watches which we felt were much more attractive from a design perspective.
There is also improved button functionality that makes key presses a lot more precise.
You can pair the Garmin FR70 up with a foot pod or the GSC10 speed and cadence sensor to deliver both speed and pace to the face of the watch.
Just like the FR60 this new Garmin Forerunner will include real time heart rate, a premium soft strap chest strap, contain the Virtual Partner pacing
feature to race a pace, show calories burned in real time and is water resistant to 50 meters thanks to new button covers. You also get audible zone
alerts for heart rate, distance and other metrics.
