Garmin Forerunner Series - A Heart Rate Monitor Specifically Designed for Women

A heart rate monitor specifically designed for women are what the Garmin Forerunner series contains. Heart rate monitors like the Garmin FR60 and even a GPS watch like the new, super-easy to use, Forerunner 110 make for a complete line up of woman's fitness products.

A heart rate monitor with a more slender and smaller watch band that fits a woman's wrist is what watches like the Garmin FR60 and Forerunner 110 are all about.

The Forerunner 110 comes in gray with a pink stripe around the band. The key to this heart rate monitor is that it is the easiest to use GPS watch ever made. You just push the start button when beginning an activity and it immediately begins measuring your speed, distance and heart rate. When you are done just push stop. No high tech maneuvers to learn, just pure simplicity. It also comes in a uni-sex flavor that is black with a gray stripe as a second potential option.

A Garmin FR60, while not a GPS watch, has been a welcome addition to the Garmin Forerunner series in 2009. It has the ability to add foot pods and speed and cadence to measure distance for cycling and running, plus it measures distance. Equipped with the Virtual Partner pacing feature to help pace, this heart rate monitor is loaded with technology. It comes in black, lilac and also a limited edition pink and white for women giving you several color options to choose from.

One thing we really like about Garmin Forerunner series is the excellent set of training videos they put up on the Garmin website. These videos are a nice, over-the-shoulder view of an expert setting up the watch and going through all the functions. This can cut your learning curve down substantially having these visuals to draw upon.

Of course other Garmin products like the GPS watch also have a woman's version. By having GPS built into the watch it is tough to reduce the size as much as the Garmin FR60 can being more of a heart rate monitor product.

The fact that manufacturers like Garmin are going after woman's specific designs and styles is good news for all the women of exercise. While a bike computer is just a bike computer, a watch is something attached to your person that makes a more personal statement about you, so it is nice to have manufactures, like Garmin, trying harder to customize their exercise products to women.

All in all for women we can give all the watches in the Forerunner series high marks.
