Garmin Accessories - Making Your GPS Watch and Bike Computer Better
A Garmin heart rate monitor or GPS watch is a powerful training tool to help you get the most from your exercise, but adding certain
accessories can help give additional usefulness to your Garmin Forerunner.
With a Garmin FR60 you can add foot pods or speed and cadence sensor to help you get speed and distance for either cycling or running. It is the
versatility of Garmin Forerunner products that allows you to use them at the gym, on the road, or on the trail and accessories help make your watches
usability that much greater.
Now for the majority of Garmin's GPS watch products no additional speed and distance accessories are required. This includes the
Forerunner 410, the Garmin 310XT, and the new Garmin Forerunner 210. However, there are times when you might want a foot pod to get
speed and distance on an indoor track with your Garmin 310XT or Forerunner 410. Unless you are going to attempt to measure speed and
distance indoors than the Garmin 310XT and the Forerunner 410 require no further accessories with the exception of a bicycle handlebar
mount for cycling.
The Garmin FR60 is likely the most flexible Garmin heart rate monitor to apply accessories to. This is because the Garmin FR60
is not a GPS watch and requires accessories to measure speed and distance. This Garmin Forerunner product gives athletes on a tighter
budget a way to measure speed and distance in cycling and running without having to pony up for a full-blown GPS watch.
If you ever intend to use your Garmin Forerunner product for cycling we strongly recommend that you purchase a bike mount. It helps keep your
data visible and your hands firmly attached to the handlebars.
So, not matter what your mode of exercise Garmin has a product to fit your needs and budget and watches like the Garmin FR60 give you the
opportunity to buy those accessories at a later date to further your watches capabilities.
Two of the most important accessories, in our opinion, are not for sale and you do not have to purchase them: these would be Garmin Connect software
and Garmin's watch training videos, which are available for free on Garmin's website. Garmin Connect allows you to download and analyze your workout
data. The training videos for watches like the Garmin FR60 and Forerunner 405 are just phenomenal because they give you a step-by-step, over the shoulder
view of a real expert setting up the watch. This can cut the learning curve a great deal.
Overall Garmin makes a great series of heart rate monitors, GPS watches and cycling computers aimed at active outdoor athletes and, as an authorized
dealer, the Heart Rate Watch Company carries a complete line of their products and accessories.
