Garmin Forerunner 220 is a completely revamped running watch from the 210, it is lighter, more comfortable, faster with satellites, higher screen resolution, has vibration alerts and basically changes the game amongst its peers.
Forerunner 220 has a super high resolution color display which is a big improvement over the 210. We are talking about 108px by 108px, which is close to double the pixels most watches have making it easier to read and see in all conditions.
LIGHTEST FULLY INTEGRATED GPS RUNNING WATCH
At 1.4 ounces Garmin 210 is, to our knowledge, the absolute lightest fully integrated GPS running watch and, as we have always said, when the weight is on your wrist and active you want lightweight. We test and weigh all products on a very accurate digital postage scale and we have never seen anything lighter in a fully integrated GPS unit, ever.
INSTANT DATA TRANSFER
Sometimes following a run you are not near a PC and may not be for hours, but that doesn't stop you from instantly transferring your run data to your Bluetooth enabled Smartphone using the 220. Plus, if you run with the phone in a waist belt you can upload your location and data in real-time to Garmin Connect or Facebook.
We feel vibration alerts are infinitely better than audible alerts and this running watch has both. Audible alerts can often not be heard when there is a lot of environmental noise but vibration alerts always come through and the Forerunner 220 has them.
COMFORTABLE and EASY
The 220 is one of the first Garmin running watches to have a color display, which makes it easy to interpret your data at a glance. It also features simple button operations and a sturdy, hinged wristband that’s comfortable for any size wrist. The new wrist band is a major improvement and fits a wide variety of wrists better than any previous Garmin watch ever made.
INDOOR DISTANCE WITH NO FOOT POD
220 has a built-in accelerometer that allows it to capture distance and pace data when you’re running on an indoor track or treadmill. No more lost foot pods or foot pod callibration, those days are history.
INSTANT DATA ACCESS WHILE MOBILE
If you’re like most runners, you want to analyze your stats after your run or race, but you may not be back at your computer right away. Forerunner 220 solves that by automatically uploading your data to Garmin Connect, our free online community where you can save, plan and share your activities. Just download the free Garmin Connect Mobile app to your smartphone and then pair your watch.
